Meet The Artist

I spent my formative years in beautiful Marin County, CA. My first glance into the world of tattooing was receiving my first at Spider Murphy’s from Theo in 2002. This was back when it was basically one room when you walked in. My passion ignited from there in the form of collecting tattoos and drawing flash designs.

I bounced around a bit early on in my journey. I started working in shops in 2006 as the shop guy for O’reilly’s in Santa Cruz, CA. Seeing how Klem and the crew operated was absolutely priceless. I graduated from The University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) in 2008 with an art degree and moved to the East Bay to start my apprenticeship at Stay True Tattoo, for which I’m still very grateful to Ryan for all I learned. After Stay True I found an opportunity at Death Before Dishonor in San Jose. Again, I remain grateful to Paco Excel for giving me a chance so early on in my career. I remained at DBD for about 4 years, with a short stint at Marks of Art before packing up shop and moving out to Colorado. I started working at Deeds of the Flesh in Thornton, CO in May of 2014, where I’m still currently residing.

I would describe my work as fairly well-rounded. I took an interest in American Traditional Tattooing early on, and it continues to have an influence on my work. One of my specialties ended up being lettering after I focused on it due to that giving me the most trouble starting out. I’ve dabbled in realism, and would like to continue to pursue it, but am currently very slow at it. Sometimes I consider “my style” to be anything that walks in the door. I believe most of my success can be attributed to how I interact with my clients and the experience they receive. It’s always my goal for my work to look legible, bold and clean.

In my off time I try to get outside and enjoy Colorado as much as I can with my fur-baby, Otis, the trouble-making Australian Shepherd. I love to cook/grill and am a car guy. I enjoy off-roading and canyon-cruising. I love heavy metal, as well as metal in various forms. I also nerd-out on computer tech, video games, and sci-fi anything.

I’m thankful to tattooing because it’s deepened my understanding of society and humanity. It gives me a great perspective because there’s so many different types of people that I get to interact with. It really has provided a great overall scope. I love that I continue to learn and improve every day, and look forward to seeing what the future will bring. Hope to see you down there!
